Lauren Montgomery Hoaglen Obituary

Lauren Josefa Montgomery Hoaglen passed away on October 27, 2022, Lauren was born on November 11, 1952 in Hoopa, California to the late Woodrow J. Montgomery, and the late Josepha B. Bibancos.

Lauren is preceded in death by her sister Sandra Begay, brother-in-law Carl Begay Sr., and brothers Floyd W. Montgomery, Russell Montgomery, Allen Montgomery and Burton Montgomery, all from Hoopa.

Lauren is survived by her husband Wildean E. Hoaglen and her children Augustine L. Montgomery, daughter-in-law Raelyn McLaughlin, Clinton F. Hoaglen and wife Pasha Hoaglen and sister in-law Mildred Montgomery; grandchildren Michael Montgomery, Maycee Gates, Key-Yoh Donahue, Nevaeh Montgomery, Keget Montgomery, and Joycie Montgomery; nephews and in-laws Carl Begay Jr. and Kayla Begay, Jason Begay and Desiree, Nolan and Carmeli Begay, Leonard Bibancos, Dion and wife Eve Bibancos, Niece Kaylene Bibancos. and Misty Knight, Jewely Bibancos and Diamond Bibancos, Ruby Bibancos Emerald Bibancos Erika and Jessica Bibancos and kids. Moto was survived by many nieces and nephews of the Hoopa Valley Tribe.

Moto worked in the health field most of her life in the transportation department and in-home care service. She dedicated her life to Hoopa ceremonies. At the Jump Dances and Deerskin Dances she was known at the camp as the fire lady always making sure the fire was hot. She was well-known as a sports fan and could always be found supporting the Hoopa Warriors. Moto always put other peoples’ needs before hers. She was never selfish and helped her friends and family with their children often. She loved being surround by family and friends and always invited many into her home.

Pallbearers: Danny Jordan, Clinton Hoaglen, Joey Montgomery, Troy Branham, Ben Branham Jr., Nolan Begay, Augustine “Gus” Bibancos, and Michael Montgomery.

Honorary Pallbearers: Ben Branham Sr., George Moon, Rodney “Rowds” Robbins, Merv George Jr., Glenn Moore, Leonard Bibancos, John Marshall, Dereck Ely, Steve Baldy, Elton Baldy, Ejon Sergeys, Jason Begay, Carl Begay Jr., Mike Hostler, Earl Jackson, Bubs Jackson, Ed Case, John Robbins, Lonnie Wilson, Victor Knight, Sam Campbell, O’s Campbell, Sherman Norton, Loren Norton, Leo Carpenter, Timothy Sunkis and many other long-time family and friends of Moto.

A wake will be held at the Hoopa First Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 beginning at 6 p.m. Services will be held on Thursday, November 3 at 11:30 a.m. at the same location (Highway 96 in Hoopa at the intersection with Loop Rd.). Moto will be laid to rest in the Montgomery/Begay family cemetery on Pine Creek Road. A reception will follow at the Hoopa Fire Department.
