I am saddened to learn of his passing. I was fortunate enough as a younger lawyer to be able to discuss law and commiserate about client behaviors with him. Now I find myself in his shoes, hopefully being helpful to the younger lawyers when asked! I appreciate his patience all the more today.

Nancy, I was saddened to receive the news of Elton's death from Rick McCarthy this afternoon. Elton was a good man. I enjoyed our time in partnership. While we may have grown apart in our business directions, I never lost my respect and admiration for him. I am glad he got to Northern California. for retirement. Please accept our condolences and give our best to the his children. You will be in our prayers.

I tried to post this earlier, but it only said saved and I cannot find it, se here goes a different way:
I recall talking with Elton when I was a younger lawyer, discussing legal points, and commiserating about client behaviors. Now that I am older, I find myself talking the same way with younger attornies, and I can only pray that my words are as effective as they told me by Elton. And I have new appreciation for the patience he exhibited in those talks. john.
